Often the real gift of therapy doesn’t come from the things that we get rid of but the things that we gain.
I am here to help you.
Many of us live in a fog that we can’t see out of. We go through our routine just surviving while not being alive. Therapy can often help us clear this fog and allow you to start to feel parts of you that you may not like, or are difficult to be with. Once you reconnected with all aspects of yourself and challenges have been processed you can remember what it was like to be excited about life and energized for the future.
Therapy can help you learn to listen to the real authentic you, and help you discover your unlived life.
My role as a counsellor...
...is to help you decipher what is going on and support you in understanding your thoughts, feelings, and behavioural patterns in current challenging times as well as the underlying root causes.
What People Experience Through Counselling:
- Greater clarity and improved focus
- Enhanced sense of ease, grounding, and relaxation
- Increased confidence and improved self-esteem
- Development of healthy coping strategies for life's stressors
- Effective management of emotions and feelings
- Enhanced self-awareness and self-knowledge
- Improved ability to cultivate healthy relationships with oneself and others
- Deeper understanding of one's personal legacy and attachment styles
My Approach
We will mindfully study the issue and look for ways to increase capacity to tolerate everyday life.
As a counselor, my approach is rooted in a holistic perspective and believe everyone has the capacity to heal and thrive. I specialize in experiential, attachment-based mind-body therapy, emphasizing the profound connection between our emotional well-being and physical experiences.
I leverage evidence-based therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and Brainspotting with an attachment based Body Mind Therapy.
In our sessions, we will explore the intricate relationship between your thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations. This approach allows us to address past attachment patterns and experiences, paving the way for transformative healing and personal growth.
My goal is to create a safe and nurturing space where you can connect with your inner self, understand your unique attachment styles, and embark on a journey towards self-discovery and emotional well-being.
Protective Parts
In IFS Protective Parts are feelings and reactions we have when we feel activated in our body that prevent us from the more vulnerable feelings connected to hurtful experiences.
They hold good intentions yet can be extreme in the way they show up. Examples of protectors are perfectionism, procrastination, critical voice, rage, self-harm, substance abuse, depression and anxiety/panic. Once our protectors feel seen, understood, and integrated, we can be compassionate witnesses to our exiled wounding.
Exiles are the parts that have experienced hurt and trauma. They have felt the loneliness, fear and hurt and internalized the core beliefs. Through witnessing them with compassion, they can let go of long-held beliefs and extreme feelings. This is when protective parts move from extremes to healthier ways of being in our system.
