About Deborah Buthmann (she/her)

I have been working in the helping profession for 8 years and have worked in the non-profit sector, in hospitals and in private practices. Since a young age, I have been fascinated by the complexity of us humans and curious about the body and mind connection.

My commitment to learning and growth continues. I believe everyone deserves to build a happy, healthy and thriving life and go beyond survival. Therapy can help us clear the fog and feel ourselves more.

It is my passion to bring people back into their bodies, to release strong emotions and beliefs, to embrace their uniqueness to change what no longer serves them.

I was born and raised in Germany and have studied and lived abroad many times. Therefore I offer Counselling in German and English.

I fell in love with the Pacific Northwest in 2013 and have enjoyed the outdoors and adventures of BC in my spare time ever since.

I am a white ciswoman and an immigrant living and working in occupied, traditional and sacred territories of the xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) nations.

Having grown up with dysfunctional dynamics in my family, I understand the impact these have on my adult life and can relate to the journey of healing from relational trauma. My experience with health issues and PTSD has taught me how hard the healing journey can be and where it might lead us, yet filled me with compassion and strength for myself and my work.

What I provide

The therapeutic relationship we build is fundamental to the success of counselling. As humans, we are inherently relational and find healing within nurturing, empathetic connections.

  • I create a welcoming, non-judgmental space where you can freely explore your thoughts and emotions.
  • I approach our journey with humility, curiosity, and unwavering presence, offering a wealth of innovative ideas to explore.
  • With keen observation, I uncover the root causes of your challenges, enabling us to swiftly identify and implement meaningful changes.
  • My goal is to serve as your compassionate guide, providing both solid support and gentle understanding throughout your therapeutic journey.

"I will not save you, for you are not powerless.
I will not repair you, because you are not broken.
I will not heal you, for I see you in your wholeness.
I will walk with you through the darkness while you remember your light."
